About The Position

MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport medical supplies and specimens. The Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver helps deliver vital materials and supports MedSpeed’s customer partnerships through safe, reliable service and teamwork. Most of the workday is spent driving a company-owned vehicle on long-distance routes throughout Maryland. The driver transports lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials. Route duties and assignments may vary according to client and business needs, and drivers must be able to perform duties across the routes to which they may be assigned. The position is based in Halethorpe, Maryland, pays $16.00 per hour, and has a fixed Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Training is provided through MedSpeed’s Blue Shirt Certified program. Candidates receiving an employment offer must complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review.

Requirements

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Must be at least 19 years of age and have held an active driver’s license for 3 years.
Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
Familiarity with and ability to adapt to technology.
Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screens.
Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
Excellent driving history.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination depending on location and local mandates.
Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, including lifting items off storage racks.
Comfort with walking long distances and standing for long periods.
Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands even when pickup and drop-off responsibilities or routes vary.
Must complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
Use a hand-held scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle.
Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interactions.
Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
Perform duties across assigned routes and adapt to changes in route assignments and client or business needs.
Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
Build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
