About The Position

MedSpeed is hiring a full-time Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver in Silver Spring. The role transports medical and healthcare-related materials throughout the DMV area, with most of the workday spent driving a company-owned vehicle. The posted schedule is Wednesday through Friday, 9:00 AM–7:30 PM, with initial flexibility to start or end up to one hour earlier or later. Route assignments and duties may change based on client and business needs, and drivers must be able to perform duties across assigned routes. Drivers use a handheld scanning device to track items, follow operating procedures and service schedules, load and unload vehicles, and conduct vehicle inspections. They are expected to drive safely, maintain a clean vehicle, represent MedSpeed professionally, and collaborate with teammates and clients. The position includes transporting specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials. Candidates must have strong customer service skills, a dependable work history, an excellent driving history, and the ability to adapt to technology and follow procedures. The role requires a valid driver’s license held for at least three years and being at least 19 years old. Drivers must be able to handle physical demands including lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, lifting items from storage racks, walking long distances, and standing for extended periods. Candidates must pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening; offers are also contingent on a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review. COVID-19 vaccination proof may be required depending on location and local mandates.

Requirements

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
At least 19 years of age and an active driver’s license held for at least three years.
Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
Familiarity working with and adapting to technology.
Ability to follow procedures closely.
Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
Excellent driving history.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required, depending on location and local mandates.
Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, including lifting items from storage racks.
Comfort walking long distances and standing for long periods.
Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands, even when drop-off and pick-up responsibilities or routes vary.
Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
Use a handheld scanning device to accurately track items throughout the transportation cycle.
Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction.
Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
Perform duties across assigned routes as needed; route assignments may change based on client and business needs.
Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
