About The Position

MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations to transport medical supplies and specimens. The Medical Driver safely transports lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, X-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials in a company-owned vehicle. The role is based in Silver Spring and involves long-distance driving throughout the DMV area. The schedule is Monday and Tuesday, 9:00 AM–7:30 PM, with initial flexibility to start or end the day up to one hour earlier or later. MedSpeed provides training through its Blue Shirt Certified program. Route duties and assignments may vary according to client and business needs, and drivers must be able to perform duties across assigned routes. Candidates offered employment must complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review. Results are evaluated under company policy and applicable laws. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required depending on location and local mandates.

Requirements

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
At least 19 years of age and an active driver’s license held for at least 3 years.
Dependability and reliability.
Familiarity with technology and ability to adapt to it.
Ability to follow procedures closely.
Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
Excellent driving history.
Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, including lifting items from storage racks.
Comfort walking long distances and standing for long periods.
Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands, even when pickup and drop-off duties or routes vary.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required depending on location and local mandates.
Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport medical specimens, records, pharmaceuticals, X-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
Use a handheld scanning device to track items through the transportation cycle.
Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
Present a professional image through appearance and interactions with clients and the public.
Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
Perform duties across assigned routes and adapt to route changes based on client and business needs.
Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
