About The Position

MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport medical supplies and specimens. The Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver safely transports medical materials using a company-owned vehicle, tracks items with a handheld scanning device, and follows operating policies, procedures, and service schedules. The role requires professional, courteous interactions with clients and the public, vehicle loading and unloading, vehicle inspections, and keeping the vehicle clean and orderly. Route duties and assignments may vary based on client and business needs, and drivers must be able to perform duties across assigned routes. This is a full-time position in Charlottesville, Virginia, scheduled Monday through Friday from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM, paying $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
At least 19 years of age and an active driver's license held for at least 3 years.
Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
Familiarity with technology and ability to adapt to it.
Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
Excellent driving history.
Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination where required by location and local mandates.
Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, lift items off storage racks, walk long distances, and stand for long periods.
Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands even when pickup and drop-off responsibilities or routes vary.
Must complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
Use a handheld scanning device to accurately track items throughout the transportation cycle.
Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interactions.
Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain a clean, neat, and orderly vehicle.
Perform duties across assigned routes as required; route duties and assignments may change based on client and business needs.
Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
