About The Position

MedSpeed is hiring a part-time Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver for a Sunday-only route based in Knightdale, North Carolina. The schedule is 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, and the role involves long-distance driving throughout North Carolina. Weekend hours receive a $1.00-per-hour shift differential. The driver transports medical and other materials for healthcare clients, including lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related items. Drivers use a handheld scanning device, follow operating policies and service schedules, and represent MedSpeed professionally to clients and the public. A company vehicle is provided.

Route responsibilities may vary according to client and business needs, and assignments may change. The role requires safe driving, loading and unloading items, vehicle inspections and upkeep, adaptability, and collaboration with teammates and clients. Candidates must meet the stated driving, screening, and physical requirements. Employment offers are contingent on a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Be at least 19 years old and have held an active driver's license for at least three years.
• Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
• Familiarity with and adaptability to technology.
• Ability to closely follow procedures.
• Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
• Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screens.
• Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent driving history.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required depending on location and local mandates.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and handle varying item weights and physical demands.
• Ability to lift items off storage racks.
• Comfort walking long distances and standing for long periods.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
• Use a handheld scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle.
• Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
• Maintain a professional appearance and interact professionally with clients and the public.
• Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
• Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean and orderly.
• Perform duties across assigned routes as client and business needs require, adapting to changes in routes and assignments.
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
