About The Position

MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport medical supplies and specimens. The Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver role is based in Halethorpe, Maryland, and is part time, working Sundays from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Weekend hours receive a $1.00-per-hour shift differential. The position may involve long-distance driving throughout Maryland. The driver spends most of the workday in a company-owned vehicle transporting lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials. Route duties vary according to client and business needs, and employees must be able to perform duties across assigned routes, which may change over time.

Requirements

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Be at least 19 years old and have held an active driver’s license for at least 3 years.
Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
Familiarity working with and adapting to technology.
Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
Excellent driving history.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, depending on location and local mandates.
Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and lift items off storage racks.
Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands, walk long distances, and stand for long periods.
Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
Use a handheld scanning device to track items accurately through the transportation cycle.
Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction.
Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
Perform duties across assigned routes, which may vary or change based on client and business needs.
Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
