About The Position

The Logistics Manager will effectively supervise groups within Logistics to ensure all customer requirements are met. This role involves guiding the escalation process, reviewing and adjusting processes for policy adherence, and ensuring adequate resource availability by reviewing daily workloads. The manager will provide leadership in cost reduction and continuous improvement programs, anticipate and resolve issues, conduct root cause failure analyses, and implement corrective actions. Responsibilities also include analyzing the financial impact of logistics changes, communicating freight transportation information to customers and suppliers, and implementing specific customer requirements. The role involves managing relationships with TMS/MTS providers, conducting regular meetings and reviews with key leaders and providers, and visiting local plants to engage with shipping teams. Additionally, the manager will conduct RFPs for various transportation modes.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in a Logistics-related field and 10 to 15 years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and team communication skills
  • 7+ years of logistics experience with TMS/MTS systems
  • Strong systems skills, including proficiency with integrated software applications
  • Thinks critically and can problem-solve
  • Computer and software knowledge required
  • Ability to interface with multiple levels of the organization and communicate effectively
  • Excellent ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and provide suggestions for improvements or corrective actions
  • Communicates and works well with all levels of the organization; develops relationships with stakeholders to ensure their involvement and commitment
  • Keeps abreast of changing regulations and procedures; develops new and innovative methods for implementing Logistics processes
  • Work well in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Responsibilities

  • Effectively supervise groups within Logistics to ensure all customer requirements are met
  • Guide the escalation process
  • Review processes to ensure adherence to policy and adjust accordingly
  • Review daily workload to ensure adequate availability of resources
  • Provide leadership in ongoing cost reduction and continuous improvement programs/projects
  • Anticipate and resolve day-to-day issues, complete root cause failure analyses, and take corrective actions
  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers
  • Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve transportation service efficiency, speed, or quality
  • Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics
  • Manage relationships with our TMS/MTS providers
  • Conduct weekly calls, set up monthly meetings with key leaders for project updates, industry updates, improvements, etc.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews
  • Manage relationships with all LTL, TL, parcel, and international providers
  • Review KPIs and customer requirements
  • Ensure quarterly and month-end reporting is executed and validated
  • Visit Local Plants monthly and engage with shipping teams
  • Conduct RFPs: LTL, Parcel, TL (Dry-van and Flatbed), Air, International Ocean
