About The Position

Atlas Roofing is seeking a high-impact Logistics Manager for our Toronto, Ontario manufacturing facility. This hands-on leadership role drives performance across purchasing, WMS-enabled warehouse operations, and shipping/logistics. Atlas roofing promotes from within and values continuous improvement. THE ROLE You will lead end-to-end logistics with a primary focus on strategic purchasing and supplier management, supported by strong execution in WMS-driven warehouse operations and shipping/transportation (truck and rail). ________________________________________ WHAT YOU’LL DO Purchasing & Supplier Strategy (Primary Focus) Lead all purchasing activities for raw materials, MRO, and services. Negotiate pricing, contracts, freight terms, and service levels with suppliers and carriers. Manage supplier performance, risk, and continuity of supply. Align purchasing decisions with production plans, inventory strategy, and cash flow targets. Coordinate and manage temporary labor through staffing agencies to support fluctuating shipping volumes. Warehouse & WMS Leadership Own and optimize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure real-time inventory accuracy and visibility. Drive best practices in inventory control, cycle counting, and material flow. Lead warehouse teams in adopting scanning, system discipline, and standardized workflows. Improve space utilization, labor efficiency, and overall warehouse productivity. Shipping, Transportation & Logistics Execution Oversee outbound and inbound logistics, including truck and rail shipments. Manage cross-border shipping (Canada/US), including customs documentation and compliance. Optimize load planning, carrier selection, and freight cost management. Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, freight cost, and detention/demurrage. Data & Continuous Improvement Leverage Ignition dashboards and data visualization tools to monitor logistics performance and drive decision-making. Lead adoption and continuous improvement of Ignition-based reporting and KPI tracking across purchasing, warehouse, and shipping functions. Identify and implement cost-saving and service improvement initiatives across the logistics network. Champion warehouse and shipping performance programs (e.g., WIP, productivity metrics). Partner cross-functionally with production, finance, and sales to improve service and efficiency. ________________________________________ WHAT YOU BRING 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong background in purchasing and supplier negotiation. Hands-on experience with WMS systems and warehouse operations. Demonstrated experience leveraging and optimizing Ignition dashboards (or similar industrial data visualization tools) to drive operational insights and decision-making. Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., PeopleSoft) and strong Excel/data analysis skills. Solid understanding of freight terms, contracts, and customs processes. A results-driven mindset with strong problem-solving and communication skills. ________________________________________ PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regular standing, walking, and use of hands in an industrial environment. Ability to safely lift and move up to 35 pounds. Ability to operate a sit-down (counterbalance) forklift and scissor lift (forklift trainer certification preferred). Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision. Requirements

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in purchasing and supplier negotiation.
  • Hands-on experience with WMS systems and warehouse operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging and optimizing Ignition dashboards (or similar industrial data visualization tools) to drive operational insights and decision-making.
