About The Position

Walmart’s Transportation Command Center is a critical component of our supply chain and logistics operation. We manage the movement of goods and products throughout the entire supply chain, from vendors to distribution centers, and from there to stores and other locations, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries. As a Logistics Load Manager within this critical department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring timely and efficient deliveries, optimizing routes, and supporting disaster relief and emergency response efforts. By leveraging advanced analytics and real-time data, we optimize driver productivity, reduce costs, and provide exceptional service to our customers while reducing our carbon footprint.   • Associate's Degree in Business, Logistics, or related field OR 1 year Walmart Logistics experience OR 1 year transportation experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with dispatching software and tools is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office, Walmart Dispatch, Walmart Logistics Information Systems experience (e.g. Global Logistics Systems (GLS), Trailer Manifest System (TMS), Map Point, MapQuest, On Board Computer Systems, Visual Dispatch System (VDS)).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimize loads and capacity to maximize truck utilization, reduce costs, minimize freight handling, and enhance overall transportation efficiency.
  • Act as a point of contact for drivers and field transportation offices, ensure seamless collaboration and resolution of any issues.
  • Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in load planning and routing. Develop and implement strategic solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and resolve operational issues. This includes addressing challenges such as weather constraints and traffic congestion in key markets. Utilize critical thinking to assess situations and make informed decisions that maximize efficiencies and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Adjust to changing business needs and priorities, seamlessly pivoting from one task to another. Adapt plans to accommodate fluctuations in demand, supply chain disruptions, and other unforeseen challenges in load planning and logistics operations.
  • Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop processes and strategies that help meet business goals.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with Walmart’s policies, guidelines, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Communicate with or to individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing (e.g., customers, suppliers, associates).
  • Maintain quality and safety standards in area of responsibility by ensuring associates are trained on Logistics and company policies, standards, and procedures, monitoring associate compliance to policies and procedures, distributing and maintaining procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor and manage productivity of area of responsibility by preparing, reviewing, and/or analyzing business reports.
  • Dispatch drivers by identifying drivers needed to meet inbound and outbound load delivery schedules and following dispatch procedures and regulations (e.g., Drive Department of Transportation Hours of Service regulations).
  • Identify associate, customer, and/or supplier concerns by listening, consulting with others when needed to determine corrective action to take or make recommendations in order to resolve.
  • Implement the business plan for area of responsibility by communicating goals, managing staffing and scheduling, assigning duties, and coordinating workloads in order to achieve facility goals (e.g., production, quality, safety).
