This role plays a key part in supporting Material Planning & Network Optimization (MPNO) by translating engineering design into operational execution as part of a large-scale automation transformation. The position is responsible for contributing to warehouse automation design and implementation, mitigating operational risks, and ensuring safe, efficient start-ups while enhancing overall Midwest Logistic Center (MWLC) performance. As a member of the MPNO engineering project team, this individual will collaborate closely with the Program Manager, MWLC Operations and Safety teams, as well as external vendors and contractors. The role supports the deployment of advanced automation technologies—including AutoStore, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), kitting automation, and optimized material flows—while contributing to the broader Logistics & Supply Network Engineering (LSNE) mission of delivering solutions that improve safety, capacity, efficiency, and material flow across operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support logistics engineering for the MPNO automation transformation, including design development, capital justification, implementation planning, and on‑site implementation support.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to deliver safe, practical solutions; support installation, commissioning, risk mitigation, and provide clear project updates to Engineering and Operations leadership.
  • Study time, motion, methods, and speed involved in maintenance, production, and other operations to establish standard production rate and improve efficiency.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Read worker logs, product processing sheets, and specification sheets, to verify that records adhere to quality assurance specifications.
  • Aid in planning work assignments in accordance with worker performance, machine capacity, production schedules, and anticipated delays.
  • Prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization.
  • Observe workers using equipment to verify that equipment is being operated and maintained according to quality assurance standards.
  • Observe workers operating equipment or performing tasks to determine time involved and fatigue rate using timing devices.
  • Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
