About The Position

The Logistics Coordinator will collaborate with the management team and Material Operations & Lab Services personnel to meet operational goals while upholding safety and quality protocols. This role involves managing inventory levels, partnering with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the smooth flow of materials to prevent interruptions to customer processes. The coordinator will also be responsible for preparing receiving and shipping documents, troubleshooting operational errors, and adhering to all relevant safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of college-level coursework in biological sciences and/or physical sciences OR AA/AS Degree in a related science major
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Commit to working 40 hours per week and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to work weekends, off shift, and overtime as required.
  • Successful demonstration of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Possess effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with strong focus on quality, attention to detail, and delivering results.

Nice To Haves

  • Material packing/handling, inventory management, and/or warehousing experience preferred.
  • Passion for continuous process improvement.
  • LEAN or other Operational Excellence training and experience are a plus.
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the management team and Material Operations & Lab Services personnel to meet operational goals while upholding safety and quality protocols.
  • Maintain adherence to internal and external regulatory standards, including Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Hazardous Materials (HazMat) regulations.
  • Manage and maintain inventory levels for laboratory consumables, reagents, chemicals, and glassware across multiple operational departments.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to meet operational needs, ensuring reagents, equipment, and resources are available for project execution.
  • Prevent interruptions to customer processes by ensuring delays due to warehouse operations are minimized.
  • Follow specific handling, storage, and temperature requirements for materials.
  • Ensure that incoming materials paperwork is correct and materials are received in good condition.
  • Prepare receiving documents.
  • Pack materials for proper shipping conditions and prepare shipping documents.
  • Troubleshoot operational errors and support operations.
  • Follow required safety procedures by using available safety equipment and participate in the safety awareness and training of staff.
  • Engage in cross-functional training within Materials Operations departments as required.
  • Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives for warehouse functions, equipment, or procedures, utilizing internal and external contacts and resources.
  • Respond to customer inquiries via email, phone, and in person.
  • Attend departmental meetings as scheduled.
  • Serve as a contact between customers and Material Operations & Lab Services staff.
  • Be adaptive to changing priorities and responsibilities in all areas.
  • Effectively multi-task the daily workload with assigned projects.
  • Provide routine updates to Supervisors and leads on progress, status, and issues associated with the department.
  • Participate in projects as needed.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a diverse environment with respect and professionalism.
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas for cleanliness.
  • Understand and demonstrate proficiency with material handling equipment and relevant computer applications.
  • Ensure that all work is completed by the end of the day.
  • Utilize time wisely to maximize productivity.
  • Meet timeline commitments and inform others as necessary.
  • Adhere to appropriate laws, GNE regulations and programs, and DOT compliance.
  • Be punctual.
  • Meet all compliance requirements for training and complete training records and certifications on time.
  • Train for PIT and understand safety and demonstrate proficiency.
