About The Position

The primary role of the Logistics Coordinator is to handle all day-to-day operational elements of our customer’s needs. This involves seeking out the best methods to move freight based on customer requirements, requiring flexibility and adaptability to work extended hours to meet work demands. The position requires the ability to organize and prioritize activities to complete tasks and assignments with a high degree of independence, in a timely and efficient manner, and with a high level of accuracy. The role performs all necessary Import, Export, and Domestic Transportation activities, ensuring timely and accurate movement of freight and information while providing exceptional customer service within the Transportation Department. The coordinator must anticipate, identify, and rectify any exceptions and keep internal stakeholders informed. A commitment to achieving Transportation targets in a timely fashion while focusing on continuous improvement is essential.

Requirements

Minimum 1-2 years in transportation/logistics/distribution
Proficient in both French and English languages.
Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.
Microsoft Office suite

Nice To Haves

College Diploma / University Degree in Business, Logistics, or International Trade preferable
CIFFA certificate, an asset
Dangerous Goods Certification, an asset
Working knowledge of transportation management software i.e., Load Link, PC Miler, etc., would be an asset.

Responsibilities

Analyze booking information from customer to determine and verify service requirements, verify appropriate routes, border crossing points, and rates, and enter the information in the system.
Work independently to accomplish tasks within the scope of the job.
Coordinate the flow of inbound and outbound freight while staying abreast of daily priorities and weekly transportation targets.
Effectively and efficiently respond to internal stakeholders' inquiries, resolving any conflicts or problems that might arise.
Ensure all account correspondence is maintained up to date, ensuring appropriate electronic copies are uploaded along with milestones.
Work with both internal and external clients to prepare and present quotes. Maintain quotes in the system.
Contact carriers to confirm equipment, expectations, and load details.
Dispatch shipments and communicate with carriers to monitor freight movement.
Update milestones in a real-time environment.
Optimize DSV profit margin as much as possible without compromising service.
Monitor carriers who are unresponsive and inform dispatchers and supervisors of escalated issues.
Update the transportation management system and customer websites with real-time load locations.
Identify problems proactively and develop creative and efficient solutions.
Prioritize loads based on importance and delivery date.
Communicate any modifications to the Account Manager to update clients.
Build strong relationships with assigned carriers through communication and ongoing monitoring of on-time performance.
Complete performance reports for all carrier-related issues in a timely manner. Notify potential issues to the appropriate parties.
Negotiate any additional charges with carriers. Assist in maintaining the accuracy of carrier information.
Ensure that tracking meets established standards but will escalate for resolution as appropriate.
Understand current industry market conditions. Communicate any carrier issues that might impact operations.
Maintain working knowledge of transportation cargo claims, transportation laws, and risk management.
Keep the Operations Team and Account Manager updated on significant issues.
Maintain the confidentiality of client information.
Maintain the integrity of shared work files on network system shared programs.
Meet KPI standards as per company guidelines.
Perform other duties and assignments as required.
Support organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification.
Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety, and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.
Ensure that day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety, therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.
