About The Position

The Baillie Group is one of North America's largest hardwood lumber manufacturers, distributors, and exporters. We are a provider of hardwood logs, hardwood lumber and proprietary grade hardwood lumber products. Midwest Hardwoods, under Baillie Group management, is searching for a Log Yard Manager in Wisconsin. The Log Yard Manager is responsible for the flow of lumber produced by the onsite sawmill through stacking, kiln-drying, grading, packaging and shipping processes. The role includes ownership over quality control protocols and is accountable to defined metrics. The position reports to the Midwest Hardwoods Plant Manager and is responsible for direct reports including forklift operators, dry kiln and boiler operators, lumber graders, material handlers and a shipping supervisor.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience managing a team of 10 or more direct reports in an industrial environment
• Comfortable working in a dynamic environment and responding to unexpected changes in real time
• Physical ability to fulfill an active role standing or moving for full shift periods
• Software skills: Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to lumber operations and equipment (manufacturing, drying, distribution)
• Hardwood lumber grading certification
• Experience with SAP system
