About The Position

The log scaler position is responsible for weighing inbound and outbound loads of logs and residuals to support the mill operations for Hampton Lumber in Fairfax, SC.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong mathematical and recordkeeping skills
• Proficiency with computers and data entry systems
• Knowledge of different timber species and log defects
• Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

• Accurately process all incoming log trucks and residual shipments in accordance with mill Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
• Inspect logs for defects, damage, and compliance with mill specifications
• Follow all SOP’s related to overweight loads, load spreading, and load rejection
• Collaborate with procurement team regarding inventory and quality issues
• Prepare reports and documentation related to log receipts and inventory
• Ensure compliance with mill safety regulations and environmental requirements
• Assists with audits, inventory reconciliation and operational improvement initiatives
• Maintain clean scalehouse, scales, and manage scaling supplies
• Provides a safe working environment for self and others
