About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role involves providing on-call CRNA coverage, either for two weeks per month with one provider or one week per month with two providers. The typical schedule for procedures is Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm. Procedures include General Surgery, C-Sections, and minor orthopedic surgeries. The CRNA must be able to perform epidurals for obstetrics (approximately 10 OB patients per month) and provide call coverage for ER intubation and sedation procedures. The position requires independent coverage for general procedures and on-call duties.

Requirements

  • Current unencumbered licensure to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from the State Board of Nursing in the state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
  • CRNA certification required and maintained through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • Bachelor of Science degree required from an approved and accredited educational program in specific area of advanced practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers anesthesia or sedation to patients undergoing a variety of surgical and non-surgical procedures.
  • Develops and conducts pre-anesthetic plans for patients.
  • Writes orders before, after, and during procedures.
  • Works with and collaborates with providers caring for the patient.
  • Communicates with patients, family members, and the health care team.
  • Evaluates and orders diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Monitors patients, including hemodynamic monitoring, using current techniques to adjust appropriately with the anesthesia plan.
  • Works with growth and development needs of all client populations.
  • Provides on-call CRNA coverage for general procedures and ER intubation and sedation.
  • Performs epidurals for OB patients.
