Requirements

• Committed to show up on time on every scheduled work day
• Understands the importance of good communication with the customer and other Savage employees
• Experienced locomotive engineer---have been previously FRA certified and GCOR rules certified
• Understands the importance of customer service and able to professionally deliver service to the customer
• Strong communication and listening skills including the ability to read, write and understand
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 1 year or more of engineer experience, preferably “Road Power”, knowledge of distributed power and Multiple Units operations as well as “slow speed”
• Must be able to work 7 days on 7 days off
• Willing to receive switchmen, Locomotive and Distributive power training & general safety training
• Willing to work with dry bulk materials
• Must be able to climb on and off railcars and locomotives
• Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts
• Must be able to pass the plant's site requirement test

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of distributed power and Multiple Units operations as well as “slow speed”

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the daily railcar movement and unloading of material within the facility safely and timely
• Communicate with other train crew members, the railroad employees by radio, signals or by other means to give and receive train operations information and aid in the movement and operation of trains
• Prepare necessary paperwork associated with the movement of the railcars
• Understand and adhere to rail rules and regulations as prescribed by Savage, our customer, and the Railroad
• Complete any assigned task(s) as long as they have been properly trained
• Will have daily contact with fellow team members and their immediate supervisor and/or manager
• Will have daily contact with customers, Class 1 railroad personnel, and members of the regional and/or executive management team
