Railserve is hiring an experienced and safety-focused Regional Traveling Locomotive Mechanic to support locomotive maintenance operations throughout the West Virginia and Ohio region. This is a full-time, hands-on mechanical role critical to maintaining reliable locomotive equipment and supporting safe, efficient customer operations across multiple Railserve locations. This position is based in the West Virginia/Ohio region and requires travel approximately 80% of the time. Tools and a company truck are provided by Railserve. No certifications are required for this role; however, certifications and related experience will be taken into consideration when determining starting pay. The Regional Traveling Locomotive Mechanic is responsible for maintaining Railserve’s fleet of locomotives throughout the West Virginia and Ohio region. This role supports the company’s ability to serve customers by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, conducting inspections, and responding to equipment repair needs at multiple operating locations. This position works closely with operations teams and customers to maintain locomotive reliability while ensuring compliance with company safety procedures and maintenance standards. Responsibilities include scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs, inspections, troubleshooting, documentation, and customer communication. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working independently in outdoor industrial environments while traveling extensively throughout the region. Previous heavy mechanical experience is strongly preferred, and Railserve is willing to train individuals with strong mechanical backgrounds.
