About The Position

The Locomotive Electrician will be responsible for making electrical repairs to all Mosaic locomotives. Must be able to perform preventative maintenance on Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) style locomotives with other peripheral equipment. Must be able to remove, disassemble, repair and reassemble and replace whole or partial electrical components including wheel and traction motor change outs Channel wiring E/M. Will be responsible for performing wiring/electrical repair to Locomotive Remote Controls (training can be provided in this area).

Requirements

Some locomotive experience is required—two (2) or more years is highly preferred.
Ability to read and follow Schematics and Maintenance Instructions (MI’s).
Ability to research part numbers in a catalog.
Ability to obtain a local Class E Driver’s License.
Willingness to drive a company vehicle within a four County/Regional radius to perform Job Duties.
Good motivational, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills to work alone and with others.
Able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
Able to work in tight or closed-in spaces.
Able to use fine hand motor skills.
Able to travel unassisted.
Able to see, with or without correction.
Able to read, write and understand basic English.
Able to hear, with or without correction.
Able to distinguish varying or specific colors, patterns, or materials.
Able to climb stairs and work at various heights.
Able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others.
Able to lift approximately 0-25 lbs. unassisted and regularly.
Able to lift 25-50 lbs. unassisted and regularly.
Physically able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for 300 pounds or less.
Must be authorized to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
A 4-year apprenticeship preferred but will consider less for the right candidate.
Knowledge of repairing remote controls is an asset (training will be offered).

Responsibilities

Making electrical repairs to all Mosaic locomotives.
Performing preventative maintenance on Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) style locomotives with other peripheral equipment.
