About The Position
University of New Hampshire Facilities Services seeks a motivated individual to join our team as a Locksmith. This role offers a career where you'll develop specialized skills that are in high demand. No prior locksmith experience is necessary, as we are willing to train the right candidate. You will learn about mechanical and commercial locksmithing, key cutting and key systems, master keying, lock installation, repair, and troubleshooting, door hardware installation and adjustment, exit devices and panic hardware, electronic and electrified locking hardware, access control fundamentals, fire door and code compliance, and safe and professional lock opening techniques.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and DOT medical card (if applicable based on assigned vehicle weight)
- At least one year of locksmith experience or related skill set
- Experience with the function, and repair of locks, cylinders doors, and hardware
- Experience with the shimming, and planing of doors
- Carpentry experience
- Knowledge of applicable codes/ordinances
- Knowledge of methods, tools and hazards of the trade
- Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written, to effectively communicate with customers, team members, contractors and supervisors
