About The Position

Maintains repairs and constructs hospital buildings, structures and furniture built of a wide variety of materials to ensure good appearance and optimal functioning. Installs/builds/tears down various materials to meet project specifications. May include foundations, walls, floors ceilings, counters, work stations, partitions, doors, glass windows, trim and molding, hardware repairs and locksmithing. Ensures all work is completed to meet applicable codes, standards and plans. Repair worn and broken wooden furniture using hand and power tools. Designs and constructs structures such as cabinets, doors, furniture, and offices utilizing knowledge of the carpentry trade, tools (i.e. measuring, drilling, finishing, etc.) in order to meet the needs of customer departments in accordance with the blueprint. Installs locks by measuring, drilling, and mounting locking devices in order to assist departments in maintaining security. Some, but not all of these positions determine types and amounts of materials and labor needed to complete projects by formulating plans and sketches so cost can be estimated and/or supplies ordered. Completes work reports according to department procedures so appropriate records are maintained. Works effectively as a team member within the department and with customers to provide quality service to hospital units through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Completion of apprenticeship program or equivalent experience
  • 1 year of carpentry experience

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare or Commercial carpentry experience preferred.
