About The Position

The Location Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the funeral home while providing professional funeral directing services to families. This position ensures both administrative excellence and compassionate client care, combining leadership, compliance, and hands-on service.

Requirements

  • Current Funeral Director license in the state where duties are performed
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in funeral service, with at least 1 year in a leadership or management role
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws governing funeral service
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and be on-call as needed
  • Compassionate and professional communication with grieving families
  • Strong leadership, time management, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple services and staff schedules
  • Comfortable using funeral service software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in varied environmental conditions

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the funeral home, ensuring high standards of care, cleanliness, and professionalism
  • Supervise and support staff, including funeral assistants, administrative personnel, and part-time help in partnership with Office Manager if applicable
  • Coordinate scheduling for services, removals, embalmings, cremations, and viewings
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, OSHA, and industry best practices
  • Monitor and manage inventory, ordering supplies and materials as needed
  • Maintain funeral home licensure, facility records, and OSHA documentation
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to meet performance, budget, and customer service goals
  • Meet with families to make funeral and cremation arrangements, guiding them with empathy and professionalism
  • Prepare and file necessary paperwork, including death certificates, permits, and authorizations
  • Coordinate with cemeteries, clergy, and other service providers to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Direct and attend services, ensuring all aspects run smoothly and respectfully
  • Embalm, dress, casket, and prepare decedents for viewing, if licensed and as needed
  • Provide aftercare and support to families, including follow-up communications
