About The Position

GHD is looking for a Location Intelligence Analyst to participate in activities pertaining to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Data Management for major mining and oil & gas projects. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in various aspects of data analysis, GIS maintenance, client management, and personal development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level in Geographic Information Systems.
  • 2+ years of successful technical delivery or technical leadership in a consultative or solution-oriented team-based environment
  • Experience in identifying new opportunities with existing customers
  • A keen desire to understand current and future challenges facing businesses and develop novel and practical solutions
  • Experience with the Esri suite of products including Online, Portal, Web, and Mobile Applications
  • The ability to work closely with a varied team of data scientists, data engineers and software developers, making the best use of this capability to offer innovative solutions for our clients
  • Knowledgeable in the business application of geospatial sciences and geomatics engineering across various civil & environmental engineering disciplines (structure, infrastructure, environment, water, energy, transport, etc.)
  • Experience in using modern software approaches to automate GIS outputs and reduce manual effort where possible
  • Capable of providing clear, precise, and effective communication in written and verbal format to both internal and external audiences
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Pre-employment medical and drug screenings

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports.
  • Undertake spatial and non-spatial data analysis. Develop solutions using FME, python, VBA, JavaScript.
  • Ensure geodetic and cartography systems are maintained and periodically upgraded. Coordinate geographical surveys. Review and endorse geographical and cartographic data, records, and base maps for future use.
  • Help others get the most out of data management systems by providing support and advice. Provide technical leadership for automation, programming, and spatial/non-spatial data related projects.
  • Work with internal/external clients to produce deliverables, solutions, and automations. Support Location Intelligence team to deliver client requests. Develop training courses and perform client training of new and planned systems and/or applications.
  • Participate in the design, development, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and enforcement of policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Participate in a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to begin to build own expertise.
