About The Position
The Locate Technician accurately identifies and marks underground utilities to support safe excavation and construction activities. The role requires attention to detail and a commitment to safety, helping prevent damage to critical infrastructure and protect the public. The technician conducts site surveys using specialized locating equipment, interprets utility maps and blueprints, communicates utility-location information to construction teams and other stakeholders, and maintains records of surveys and markings in accordance with regulatory requirements. The role also involves following safety procedures, staying current with industry standards, technology, and regulations, guiding junior technicians when needed, and responding promptly to emergency locate requests.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in utility locating or a related field.
- Proven experience working with utility maps and blueprints.
- Experience using electronic locating equipment and GPS technology.
- Strong understanding of utility infrastructure and underground utilities.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with electronic locating equipment and GPS devices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities
