About The Position

Join Animal Humane Society as a Courier/Animal Driver, where your daily work helps animals get the care, support, and second chances they deserve. In this essential role, you’ll provide safe, local transport of animals and critical items between our sites—keeping operations running smoothly and directly impacting the lives of animals.

Requirements

Must be able to problem solve and work under general instruction while on the route.
Proficient with technology, specifically a working knowledge of Microsoft products.
Prolonged periods of sitting.
Must be able to lift, carry, and handle animals and other items up to 75 lbs. unassisted. For animals and other items over 75 lbs., assistance from another team member is required.
Must be comfortable with the emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of humane euthanasia.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Vehicle operation experience is required.
Must have a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Animal handling experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide local transport of animals and items.
Prepare the route and vehicle for transport.
Complete basic preventative maintenance checks.
Ensure appropriate loading, unloading, and care of animals and items.
Plan and complete work based on the ticketing system and priorities set by the team.
Communicate in a positive and professional manner with customers, other employees, and volunteers.
Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion to make AHS a welcoming environment for all.
Clock in and out of shifts using ADP.
Monitor AHS email and other messaging software.
Other duties as assigned.
