About The Position

American Furniture Warehouse is seeking hard-working, motivated delivery drivers to provide white-glove service in customers’ homes. Drivers deliver, assemble, and disassemble merchandise, remove merchandise from customers’ homes, demonstrate how to use products, and explain company policies and procedures. The position involves working with a delivery partner and serving as an ambassador for the AFW brand. Drivers work five to six days per week, often six days during busy seasons, and start early. The work is physically demanding and fast-paced, with extended periods of activity. First-year drivers average $25.59–$36.65 per hour. AFW pays employees every Friday and provides company training and leadership development tracks for promotion opportunities. A pre-employment drug screen and background check are required upon job offer.

Requirements

• Be honest and caring and serve as an ambassador for the brand.
• Have a clean Motor Vehicle Record, with no more than two moving violations in the past three years.
• Obtain and maintain a D.O.T. physical card; AFW pays for it.
• Own personal hand tools; the company states it can help with this.
• Learn, understand, and apply new technologies, including Dispatch Track and iPad.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and be able to explain merchandise and policies to customers.
• Be able to team-lift merchandise on and off a box truck and in and out of customers’ homes.
• Be able to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers.
• Be able to work independently with little supervision.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check upon job offer.
• Be able to maneuver through confined and congested areas, including stairways, hallways, and elevators.
• Be able to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for 10 hours or more daily.
• Be able to frequently lift, lower, push, and pull merchandise up to 100 pounds and handle or manipulate up to 250 pounds.
• Be able to lift, grip, bend, kneel, stoop, and move merchandise for 10 hours or more daily.

Responsibilities

• Deliver merchandise to customers’ homes and provide a strong customer experience.
• Assemble and disassemble furniture correctly and efficiently using a variety of tools.
• Remove merchandise from customers’ homes.
• Demonstrate how to use merchandise and explain company policies and procedures.
• Safely and efficiently load and unload furniture to and from a delivery truck.
• Work closely with a delivery partner to perform deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers.
• Work independently with little supervision.
• Partner with multiple departments to improve processes, maximize efficiency, and exceed customer service expectations.
• Work safely in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.
