About The Position

A Local Client Manager (LCM) maintains strong business relationships with Maersk’s Strategic Accounts and is responsible for Year-over-Year (YoY) growth across the Maersk product and services portfolio. LCMs offer transportation and logistics solutions that add value to the client’s business, while managing client expectations, and delivering positive results to Maersk. The role involves managing client's strategic initiatives and acting as the primary point of contact for the client organization at all levels. LCMs are responsible for selling new and additional integrated logistics services, monitoring profitability, and handling contract renewals. They also serve as a liaison between the customer and origin points, problem-solving, and managing general inquiries. The position requires managing by influence resources that do not report directly to the LCM, such as Program Managers and Customer Service teams, to ensure synergy between Maersk's operating systems, finance, and business development groups. Communication occurs on many levels within the client's organization, from front-line staff to executive leadership. LCMs may manage multiple accounts or act as sales specialists for the broader Maersk sales organization. Compliance with all legal requirements and maintaining technical and professional proficiency through education and professional development are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in international freight forwarding or supply chain/ logistics, or shipping industries
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; results and details oriented personality; organizational skills
  • Advanced computer literacy and ability to efficiently operate standard office equipment
  • Good communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills are required; ability to work under pressure; team player
  • Ability to work under pressure and provide guidance to staff
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to make decisions in the absence of management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent conflict resolution and problem solving skills
  • A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • Ability to train, coach, evaluate and mentor
  • Strong and current knowledge of technology platforms, MS Office products, and ability to quickly adapt to new software

Responsibilities

  • YoY Portfolio Growth
  • Management of client’s strategic initiatives
  • Entry point to customer for all levels of the client organization
  • Selling new and additional integrated logistics services including: Supply Chain Management & Value Added (VAS) services, Ocean freight, FCL and LCL, Domestic Ground Freight, Airfreight, Transload / Warehousing, and Customs House Brokerage.
  • Monitor profitability
