About The Position

Monterey County Bank (MCB) is seeking a Loan Servicing (Note Department) Specialist to provide operational and administrative support for the Bank’s consumer, commercial, and real estate loan portfolios. This position involves processing loan payments and advances, boarding loans, preparing documentation, and maintaining loan collateral and documentation files. The Specialist will also monitor insurance requirements, manage reports, and ensure the accuracy of loan records. Additionally, this role supports customer service by maintaining positive relationships, responding to inquiries, and referring customers to appropriate personnel. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, organizational skills, regulatory awareness, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 5 years of small business or commercial loan administration experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and loan origination system.
  • Knowledge of Navigator.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • 7+ years of experience with increasing responsibility working for a regulatory agency examining banks, in a bank within the audit, compliance or legal departments, as a management consultant in the field of banking compliance or other equivalent non-banking position providing advice and/or guidance on banking regulations.
  • Experience at commercial banking institution highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of loan servicing and administrative functions supporting the Bank’s consumer, commercial, and real estate loan portfolios.
  • Processing loan payments, advances, transfers, and payoffs.
  • Maintaining loan records, collateral files, insurance documentation, and customer statements.
  • Monitoring insurance coverage and following up on expired or canceled policies.
  • Preparing and distributing loan-related reports, notices, and correspondence.
  • Providing operational support to loan officers and other Bank personnel.
  • Responding to customer and internal inquiries.
  • Assisting with loan documentation.
  • Maintaining archived loan files.
  • Processing callback entries.
  • Supporting collection efforts on delinquent accounts.
