About The Position
Community 1st Credit Union is seeking a Loan Specialist to help preserve the Credit Union’s assets. The position is located at the headquarters in Ottumwa. The role supports general accounting and loan servicing, with a focus on motor vehicle and DNR titles, UCC filings, total loss claims, controlled distribution of loan funds, and perfection of consumer-loan collateral. It also involves responding to member and internal inquiries and maintaining knowledge of loan documentation and underwriting platforms.
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in interactions with others.
- Ability to communicate with people inside and/or outside the organization to share or obtain information, build relationships, and solicit cooperation.
- Self-motivation and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and promote a professional environment.
- Proficiency with 10-key.
Responsibilities
- Post journal entries, process payments, and verify information.
- File and assist with preparing reports.
- Perform general accounting administrative tasks, including processing mail and posting accounting entries.
- Maintain assigned general ledger accounts.
- Perform tasks in an electronic liens system, primarily involving motor vehicle titles, DNR titles, UCC filings, and total loss claims.
- Handle the controlled distribution of loan funds and collateral perfection on consumer loans.
- Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely manner.
- Maintain working knowledge of required loan documentation and an understanding of the Credit Union’s underwriting platforms.
