About The Position

GTE Financial is seeking an exceptional listener and genuine relationship builder to join their team as a Mortgage Loan Executive. This role involves managing day-to-day sales and support for mortgage applications from various sources including community financial centers, web, external referrals, and inbound phone inquiries. The Mortgage Loan Executive will ensure member loan requests meet their needs, review credit, analyze automated underwriting decisions, manage initial document requests, and prepare loans for underwriting review. The ideal candidate will have a desire to help individuals achieve their homeownership dreams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Functional knowledge of necessary federal laws and regulations.
  • Functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
  • Ability to handle multiple job responsibilities and tasks to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Must be able to qualify for NMLS registration according to the Safe Act.
  • Candidates must provide and meet all technical requirements for remote/hybrid work prior to the first day of training, including a quiet workplace, power, high-speed internet over 100MB, and video capability (1.5 Mbps up and down recommended).

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred.
  • Knowledge of secondary market is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of secondary market, FHA, VA and CU Portfolio loans and their associated documentation.
  • Working knowledge of GTE’s full suite of lending products and other products offered to members (e.g., Checking, Commercial, Investments & Insurance Services).
  • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Meeting with and counseling members on new mortgage loan options based on current product guidelines.
  • Engaging with Community Financial Center teammates to develop quality referral strategies through product training and sales techniques.
  • Participating in community organizations, realtor events, activities, lead groups, and local chamber memberships to develop a referral network.
  • Proactively soliciting new residential mortgage business and representing GTE in the market.
  • Developing and maintaining referral contacts and professional relationships with realtors, builders, etc.
  • Analyzing loan file documentation to initiate the pre-qualification process and entering full loan applications into the Loan Operating System (LOS).
  • Communicating lending decisions, including denials or counter-offers, upfront.
  • Maintaining and enhancing mortgage acumen, staying knowledgeable about credit union mortgage products and services.
  • Reinforcing the selling points of loan types, rates, payments, and terms of mortgage products.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Federal regulations and disclosing correct information to members as required by law.
  • Engaging in weekly or bi-weekly team meetings, conference calls, and events as assigned.
  • Implementing action plans to focus on areas of opportunity with all lending products.
