Requirements

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be willing and able to work 12 hr shifts, including nights, overtime, weekends, holidays, and additional hours beyond regularly scheduled shift to cover vacancies.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, etc (working above 4 feet), and to be comfortable working at heights (working on top of railcars, able to work on highly elevated platforms).
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lift up to 50lbs regularly, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Must be computer literate including being able to enter and retrieve data.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, with an emphasis on Excel and Word.
  • Must have demonstrated high performance (work performance, attendance record, safety record.).

Nice To Haves

  • Mobile equipment experience.
  • Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Prior experience in production related work.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all equipment associated with railcar loading and unloading, railcar washing (refinery), railcar drying, truck loading and unloading.
  • Monitor and adjust operation using computerized and controlled systems to meet department requirements.
  • Enter confined spaces under proper permit conditions and supervision.
  • Understand and adhere to Provincial and Federal Occupational Safety and Health rules and regulations as related to plant safety. Follow all Cargill safety rules and regulations.
  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment utilized by facility; determine immediate and long range needs for maintenance and repair work. Enter work orders utilizing the Maintenance Computer Program.
  • Gather samples from loaded tank cars or trucks with each load/unload.
  • Gather samples from the meal, pellets and/or crude oil cars loaded.
  • Troubleshoot minor problems as required.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental and food safety impacts of the operation.
  • Completes master sanitation schedule checklists and tasks.
  • Attend various mandatory safety and department meetings.
  • Communicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involved.
  • Assist other crush, refinery and plant personnel as needed, and will perform any other duty as requested.

  • Compensation: $32.42 during probation, $40.89 after probation
