About The Position

In this role, you will report to the Site Manager and will work closely with the Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in shipping and receiving, loading dock operations, logistics, inventory management, warehouse operations, or supply chain support.
  • Experience coordinating deliveries and working with transportation carriers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel.
  • Experience utilizing inventory management or ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Experience with barcode scanning technology and handheld devices.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotech, manufacturing, or regulated environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams preferred.
  • Experience in a GMP-regulated environment.
  • Experience handling hazardous or temperature-controlled materials.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and warehouse best practices.
  • Forklift or pallet jack experience.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations and carrier requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily loading dock operations and shipment schedules.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inbound and outbound deliveries.
  • Receive, inspect, and process shipments from multiple carriers and vendors.
  • Verify shipment contents against purchase orders, packing slips, and receiving documentation.
  • Coordinate dock appointments and manage carrier arrivals and departures.
  • Prioritize deliveries based on business needs and operational requirements.
  • Track incoming and outgoing shipments and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate shipment status and delivery updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Escalate delivery issues, delays, and transportation concerns as needed.
  • Process incoming laboratory consumables, chemicals, production materials, and equipment.
  • Ensure proper handling of temperature-sensitive, hazardous, and regulated materials.
  • Coordinate material movement between receiving areas, stockrooms, laboratories, and production spaces.
  • Prepare outbound shipments in compliance with carrier and regulatory requirements.
  • Support stockroom replenishment and inventory distribution activities.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and efficient receiving and staging areas.
  • Perform inventory transactions using SAP, Oracle, or other inventory management systems.
  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and assist with corrective actions.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and data integrity.
  • Monitor inventory levels and support replenishment activities.
  • Assist with inventory reporting and operational metrics.
  • Follow all site safety, GMP, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous material handling and storage requirements.
  • Maintain required shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Participate in safety inspections and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote safe work practices and proper PPE usage.
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, and operational risks promptly.
  • Build strong working relationships with laboratory staff, procurement teams, suppliers, and carriers.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding deliveries, inventory, and material availability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve dock operations, material flow, and inventory processes.
  • Support site projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
