About The Position

O'Neal Steel is hiring a Loader for its Shelbyville, Indiana facility. The Loader loads and unloads material within a warehouse and moves material to and from trucks or trains and throughout the storage facility using material-handling equipment. The role relies on established procedures, instructions, and guidelines, and spends at least 70% of its time performing loading duties. Overtime may be required as needed. Candidates must pass a criminal background check and drug test after receiving an offer of employment.

Requirements

Ability to operate a wide variety of material-handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, stacker cranes, side loaders, and yard dogs.
Critical-thinking skills for planning and problem-solving.
Strong understanding of load balancing to meet DOT weight regulations.
Ability to use a variety of hand tools, including grinders, banders, drills, hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, and wrenches.
Ability to learn and retain product knowledge and standard handling and rigging procedures across products.
Ability to accurately read a tape measure.

Responsibilities

Load and unload material within the warehouse.
Move material to and from trucks or trains and within the storage facility using material-handling equipment.
Safely load multi-stop customer deliveries.
Balance loads to meet DOT weight regulations for legal and over-dimensional loads.
Verify the accuracy of material, quantity, packaging, and special instructions for each order being shipped.
Provide high-quality work to internal and external customers.
Maintain a safe and organized work area.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
