About The Position

American Buildings is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Shipping Loader. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, collecting, and loading materials for shipment using a Bill of Materials or Shipper and SICM. This role requires ensuring correct materials are loaded onto the correct trailer, directing and assisting in the proper distribution of weight over axles, and ensuring all materials are securely loaded, boxed, and tied down. The candidate must also learn to operate a "spot truck" and maneuver trailers, read shippers and part numbers, and work with shipping documents. Operating Taylor lifts and fork trucks, maintaining organization of the shipping yard, taking load photos, and building safe loads that prevent damage to building materials are also key responsibilities. Safety is paramount, and candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• Ability to lift 60lbs.
• Ability to operate a computer.
• Ability to work outside; exposed to the elements including cold and hot temperatures, high humidity, rain, and snow.
• Ability to safely operate machinery in low light environment.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, collects and loads materials for shipment using a Bill of Materials or Shipper and SICM.
• Checks off materials from shipper to ensure correct materials are loaded on the correct trailer.
• Directs and assists in loading materials onto the trailer so that the weight is properly distributed over the axles.
• Ensures that all materials are properly and securely loaded, boxed and tied down as necessary.
• Learns to drive the “spot truck”, along with maneuvering trailers around the yard.
• Reads shippers and part numbers and works with the shipping documents to ensure that all material is on the trailer.
• Operates Taylor lifts and fork trucks to load material on trailers.
• Maintains organization of the shipping yard.
• Takes load photos of all outgoing material.
• Builds safe loads that do not cause damage to building materials.
• Initiates, leads, and upholds safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
