About The Position

In this role, you will be the primary architect of safe, seamless landscape supply yard operations, material loading, aggregate handling, and year-round seasonal site management. You will be responsible for operating heavy wheel loaders and attachments to load bulk supplies, performing daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance, and transitioning to snow and ice management during winter months. Collaboration with the Division Manager, yard staff, and drivers is essential for yard logistics and communication using digital applications for timekeeping, safety reporting, and inventory tracking.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, specifically Part 19 (Powered Mobile Equipment) standards.
  • Strong understanding of equipment maintenance protocols, material weights, and safe loader positioning.
  • Minimum two (2) years of dedicated experience operating wheel loaders in a supply yard, aggregate facility, landscape supply, or construction environment.
  • Experience loading tandem trucks/trailers.
  • Experience operating various attachments (buckets, snow pushers, forks).
  • Experience performing routine preventative maintenance.
  • Experience using mobile apps (SiteDocs, Aspire) for DVIRs and safety logs.
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor work in varying Alberta weather conditions (extreme heat, mud, sub-zero snow events).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently mount/dismount cabs.
  • Maintain flexible availability for on-call, overnight, early morning, and weekend shifts during winter operations.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy wheel loaders and attachments to load bulk supplies (topsoil, mulch, gravel, sand, rock) into customer, commercial, and company trucks/trailers with speed and accuracy, maintaining clean and organized stockpiles.
  • Perform mandatory daily inspections (Part 19 PME standards), execute routine preventative maintenance (greasing, fluid checks, filter cleaning), conduct FLHAs, and strictly adhere to Safe Work Practices to ensure zero-incident operations.
  • Transition seamlessly from November through April to operate wheel loaders equipped with snow buckets, blades, or pushers for commercial/residential snow clearing, windrowing, and site management during peak weather events.
  • Collaborate closely with the Division Manager, yard staff, and drivers while using digital applications (SiteDocs, Aspire, Asset Tiger) for accurate timekeeping, DVIR logging, safety reporting, and inventory tracking.
