About The Position

The Seasonal Dump Truck Driver is responsible for transporting bulk materials throughout the terminal and supporting vessel unloading operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient movement of materials while maintaining equipment and adhering to all safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or currently completing high school).
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate heavy equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb in and out of heavy equipment throughout the workday
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces, docks and outdoor industrial environments
  • Ability to work extended hours during vessel operations and weather events.

Responsibilities

  • Safely load customer trucks while ensuring accurate product handling and efficient traffic flow.
  • Inspect trailers prior to loading and communicate with drivers regarding debris, water accumulation, tarp positioning, and gate security
  • Monitor and maintain safe vehicle movement throughout the yard and assist with direct traffic as needed.
  • Prepare salt piles for daily operations, including managing protective coverings and minimizing product exposure to weather conditions
  • Break apart salt clumps and maintain proper product quality standards prior to shipment.
  • Operate loaders, forklifts, dump trucks, and other equipment as assigned.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance, including: Fueling equipment, Checking fluid levels, Greasing components, Maintaining clean operator cabs, Using block heaters when required
  • Assist with minor equipment repairs and communicate maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel
  • Maintain inventory of grease, parts, and maintenance supplies
  • Respond appropriately to hydraulic leaks, oil spills, and environmental incidents by containing and cleaning affected areas according to company procedures.
  • Assist with vessel arrival and departure preparations, including: Removing and replacing pile coverings, Positioning barriers and safety equipment, Cleaning docks, piers and operational areas, Supporting loading and unloading activities
  • Perform snow removal and winter weather cleanup activities as needed.
  • Shovel walkways, stairs, and designated work areas to maintain safe access.
  • Work extended shifts during vessel operation, including 12-hour shifts, nights, weekend, and holidays as business needs require.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
