About The Position

Join Cottage Hospital's Medical Surgical team to provide compassionate supportive care to patients with a wide range of diagnoses, including critical care, surgeries, and joint replacements. The LNA works alongside nurses to support patient safety and satisfaction and helps maintain a clean, comfortable, and well-stocked nursing unit. The position may also assist with Unit Secretary duties at the Nurses’ Station. The team offers a collaborative environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities

Provide supportive care for patients’ activities of daily living, including AM/PM care, monitoring vital signs, feeding, toileting, bathing, dressing, changing bed linens, and special observation monitoring and documentation.
Promptly and accurately communicate patient information to the appropriate team.
Respond according to unit procedure in emergency situations.
Float to other units as necessary.
Stock patient bedsides with required supplies each shift and change equipment as needed.
Check and change needle/syringe containers as needed each shift.
Conduct unit safety rounding as assigned.
Notify the appropriate department when par levels decrease as needed.
Answer call bells or requests and refer them to the appropriate person.
Safely transport patients to and from other departments and areas.
Participate in patient admissions and discharges, including escorting patients to the hospital exit, removing supplies and equipment from rooms, and preparing rooms for admissions.
Maintain a therapeutic environment by cleaning and keeping counters in utility rooms, equipment, and furniture neat.
Complete other tasks as assigned.
Assist with Unit Secretary duties or functions at the Nurses’ Station as needed.
