About The Position

The LNA supports patients on Cottage Hospital’s Medical Surgical team, assisting nurses in caring for patients with a wide range of diagnoses, including critical care, surgeries, and joint replacements. The role provides supportive care for patients and helps maintain a clean, comfortable, and well-stocked nursing unit. It may also include assisting with Unit Secretary duties at the Nurses’ Station. The position provides support alongside nurses in a 24/7 care environment and may require floating to other units.

Responsibilities

Provide supportive care for patients’ activities of daily living, including AM/PM care, vital-sign monitoring, feeding, toileting, bathing, dressing, changing bed linens, special-observation monitoring, and documentation.
Promptly and accurately communicate patient information to the appropriate team members.
Respond to emergency situations according to unit procedures and float to other units as necessary.
Stock patient bedsides with required supplies each shift and change equipment as needed.
Check and change needle and syringe containers as needed each shift.
Conduct unit safety rounds as assigned and notify the appropriate department when par levels decrease.
Answer call bells and requests and refer them to the appropriate person.
Safely transport patients to and from other departments and areas.
Participate in patient admissions and discharges, including escorting patients to the hospital exit, removing supplies and equipment from rooms, and preparing rooms for admissions.
Maintain a therapeutic environment by cleaning and keeping counters in utility rooms, equipment, and furniture neat.
Assist with Unit Secretary duties or functions at the Nurses’ Station as needed.
Complete other tasks as assigned.
