About The Position

The Livestock Floater is responsible for supporting regulatory compliance, customer specifications and quality issues, and food safety and quality programs within the plant facility. The position is based in the Livestock department in Ottumwa, Iowa, and provides coverage for hourly management members as needed, including across all shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience in technical services, quality assurance, food safety, auditing, or production.
Understanding of USDA requirements and HACCP.
Ability to rethink and improve business processes for continued growth.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to provide leadership and motivation to engage employees in the business.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
Internal applicants must have fewer than 3 attendance points and no written warnings or suspensions in the last calendar year.
Problem-solving, root-cause analysis, team-building, and good communication skills.
Meat processing experience.

Responsibilities

Monitor and audit the receiving and unloading of livestock at the Livestock department unloading docks (40%).
Count and sort livestock after unloading (40%).
Cover as a stun technician or lead sorter and provide coverage for hourly management members in Livestock as needed, including all shifts (20%).
