About The Position

The Live Sound & AV Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and technical production of audio, video, lighting, and live entertainment systems throughout Harvest Hall, Third Rail, Hotel Vin, Peace Plaza, and other property event spaces. This position has a strong emphasis on live music production and audio engineering, including working directly with bands, musicians, DJs, entertainers, event producers, and outside production companies. The Live Sound & AV Technician will support concerts, live music programming, weddings, banquets, corporate meetings, private events, festivals, special activations, and other property programming. The position is responsible for ensuring that all AV and entertainment systems are professionally prepared, tested, operated, and maintained to provide a high-quality experience for guests, performers, clients, and property leadership. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with live sound reinforcement, mixing consoles, microphones, monitors, speakers, digital audio systems, signal flow, stage production, and troubleshooting and is comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality and entertainment environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in live sound, audio engineering, AV production, concert production, event production, hotel AV, theater, or a related field preferred.
Hands-on experience mixing live bands, DJs, vocalists, and other performers preferred.
Knowledge of professional audio systems, including microphones, DI boxes, mixing consoles, amplifiers, speakers, monitors, subwoofers, and signal processors.
Understanding of audio signal flow, gain structure, EQ, compression, feedback control, monitor mixes, and basic acoustics.
Experience with digital mixing consoles preferred.
Ability to read and understand stage plots, input lists, and technical riders.
Basic knowledge of professional lighting and video systems.
Ability to troubleshoot audio, video, lighting, wireless, networking, and presentation equipment.
Familiarity with wireless microphone systems and frequency coordination preferred.
Knowledge of Dante or other digital audio networking systems is a plus.
Experience with playback systems, DJ equipment, music software, and digital media is a plus.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with professional musicians, touring personnel, clients, vendors, and hotel leadership.
Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions in a live event environment.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented when technical problems occur during live events.

Ability to lift, carry, load, unload, and move AV and live production equipment, including speakers, subwoofers, cases, stands, cables, lighting equipment, and other event equipment.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb ladders, and work in various event spaces.
Ability to work on stages, backstage areas, production areas, ballrooms, meeting rooms, outdoor venues, and other event spaces.
Ability to work around amplified sound and other normal conditions associated with live entertainment and event production.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions when supporting outdoor concerts and events.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, concerts, festivals, and special events as needed.
Arrive prepared and on time for all assigned events and performances.
Complete equipment setup and testing before guests and performers arrive.
Maintain professional sound quality and technical standards throughout events.
Anticipate potential technical problems and address them before they impact the event.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional stage and production environment.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and dismantle professional live sound systems for bands, solo artists, DJs, karaoke, concerts, and other entertainment.
Serve as the primary or supporting live sound engineer for Harvest Hall, Third Rail, Peace Plaza, and other property entertainment events.
Coordinate with performing artists, band leaders, tour managers, DJs, and production personnel regarding technical requirements.
Review band and artist technical riders, stage plots, input lists, hospitality requirements, and production needs.
Advance upcoming shows with artists and/or their representatives to identify equipment, stage, sound, lighting, power, and production requirements.
Prepare stage equipment, including microphones, DI boxes, microphone stands, cables, monitors, speakers, subwoofers, mixers, stage boxes, and other production equipment.
Build and maintain appropriate audio signal flow from stage inputs through mixing consoles, processing, amplification, and speaker systems.
Perform sound checks and line checks prior to performances.
Mix live performances from front-of-house and/or monitor positions as required.
Operate digital and/or analog mixing consoles and associated audio processing equipment.
Provide monitor mixes for performers and make adjustments during performances as needed.
Monitor sound levels and audio quality throughout performances.
Troubleshoot feedback, noise, distortion, signal loss, wireless microphone issues, and other live sound problems quickly and professionally.
Assist bands and performers with stage changes, equipment changes, and changeovers between acts.
Coordinate sound requirements for multi-band events and festivals.
Work with DJs to connect and integrate DJ equipment, laptops, controllers, microphones, and playback systems into venue sound systems.
Support live band karaoke and other interactive entertainment programs.
Maintain professional communication and relationships with performers while representing Harvest Hall and the property.
Set up, operate, and dismantle AV equipment for meetings, conferences, weddings, banquets, corporate events, private parties, and special events.
Prepare microphones, speakers, mixers, projectors, screens, televisions, video displays, lighting equipment, playback systems, and other AV equipment.
Connect and test all equipment before events to ensure proper operation.
Review event orders, production schedules, and technical requirements to ensure all AV needs are prepared according to client specifications.
Assist with room setups, stages, presentations, podiums, dance floors, entertainment areas, and other event production requirements.
Operate AV equipment during live events, including sound systems, microphones, presentations, video playback, lighting, and other production equipment.
Provide technical support before, during, and after events.
Assist with outdoor concerts and activations, including Peace Plaza and other outdoor event areas.
Support special events, festivals, holiday activations, fundraising events, community events, and other large-scale property programming.
Assist with event production involving multiple venues or simultaneous events throughout the property.
Work with outside AV companies and production vendors when additional equipment or technical support is required.
Operate and troubleshoot televisions, large-format displays, projectors, projection screens, LED displays, video processors, presentation systems, and related equipment.
Assist with video playback and content routing for concerts, DJs, special events, and presentations.
Support integration of music and video content across Harvest Hall, Third Rail, Main Bar, and other venue displays.
Assist with routing content to large screens and venue display systems.
Troubleshoot HDMI, video signal, networking, wireless, and other common AV connectivity issues.
Assist with the setup and operation of presentation computers, clickers, playback devices, and streaming equipment.
Assist with setup, programming, operation, and troubleshooting of event and entertainment lighting systems.
Set up stage lighting for bands, DJs, concerts, and special events.
Assist with lighting changes and show cues when required.
Coordinate lighting requirements with performers, DJs, event producers, and outside production companies.
Ensure lighting equipment is safely installed, secured, tested, and properly stored.
Assist with special effects and entertainment production equipment when trained and authorized to do so.
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of AV and live entertainment equipment.
Maintain an organized inventory of microphones, speakers, mixers, cables, stands, DI boxes, adapters, lighting equipment, video equipment, and other AV accessories.
Maintain accurate equipment storage and organization throughout Harvest Hall and related event spaces.
Ensure equipment is properly labeled, stored, secured, charged, and ready for use.
Test equipment on a regular basis and identify equipment requiring repair or replacement.
Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment to management.
Assist with equipment installations, system upgrades, venue improvements, and technical projects.
Maintain clean and organized technical areas, stages, racks, storage rooms, and workspaces.
Assist with developing and maintaining equipment checklists and standard operating procedures.
Work closely with Operations, Events, Banquets, Food & Beverage, Engineering, Marketing, and other departments to coordinate event production requirements.
Communicate event schedules, technical requirements, changes, and potential issues to management.
Attend event production meetings and planning sessions when required.
Help determine equipment, labor, and technical requirements for upcoming events.
Assist the Director of Operations with evaluating equipment needs, upgrades, repairs, and capital purchases.
Help establish consistent production standards for Harvest Hall's live music and entertainment programming.
Maintain a professional and guest-focused presence while working throughout the property.
Respond quickly and professionally to technical issues during events.
Take ownership of technical problems and work toward solutions with minimal disruption to guests or performers.
Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of management. Furthermore, tasks and responsibilities may be added or revised based on the volume of business, entertainment schedule, event requirements, and operational needs of the property.
