Peco Foods' Summer Internship Program provides college students with hands-on experience in live poultry operations at a vertically integrated poultry company. The Live Operations Intern works alongside experienced industry professionals, explores different stages of poultry production, and contributes to projects supporting operational performance. The internship offers opportunities to develop practical skills, apply classroom knowledge, and explore careers in live production and agricultural operations. Interns follow company safety, animal welfare, biosecurity, and operational procedures while completing assignments across different areas of live poultry operations. They gain exposure to the stages of live operations and learn how those stages contribute to overall production performance. Working alongside live production managers, interns learn about team and process management and operational challenges. They also contribute to an operational improvement project and present practical recommendations to leadership, while receiving coaching and feedback from industry professionals. The internship lasts 10–12 weeks, from late May through early August. Assignments may involve varying schedules and work in poultry houses and other agricultural environments, as well as extended periods of standing or walking, lifting, and other physically demanding activities.
