About The Position

This position is responsible for unchaining and re-chaining cages from trucks as part of the live haul process during night shifts. The role involves ensuring cages are properly secured and participating actively within a team environment to support operational objectives and Simmons Operating Systems principles. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various environmental conditions.

Requirements

Must be able to stand and walk.
Must be able to bend and twist at the neck and waist.
Must be able to grasp, pull and push.
Must be able to reach above, below and at shoulder level.
Must be able to perform repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms and hands.
Must be able to work outside in various temperature extremes (heat above 90 degrees; cold below 40 degrees).
Must be able to work around loud machinery and trucks.
Must use vision.
Must be able to work in a loud, dusty, noisy environment.
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Earplugs, gloves, Safety shoes, orange vest.

Responsibilities

Unchain cages from trucks so they can be moved to the dumpers.
Re-chain empty cages on the trucks.
Visually check to ensure all cages on the truck are secured.
Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices.
Attend appropriate team meetings.
Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Be familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies).
Understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
Consider the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
