About The Position

The Pallet Jack Operator is responsible for collecting and delivering products within the facility while adhering to company safety and quality procedures. This role involves operating pallet jacks, managing materials, reporting any issues, and completing necessary documentation. The operator will also participate as a team member, contributing to team concepts and fostering cohesiveness. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems and a willingness to perform other duties as necessary are also expected.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain company-issued pallet jack licenses.
  • Ability to work in a plant environment.
  • Regularly required to stand, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Light to moderate physical effort required.
  • Must use required footwear, gloves, apron, hearing protection, hair net(s) and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Preferred experience working with large moving equipment.
  • Preference for poultry or food processing organization experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operates an electronic or hand-operated pallet jack between departments, buildings, and grounds.
  • Collects and delivers a wide variety of materials while adhering to established safety procedures.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Delivers materials to work areas as directed from the production supervisor.
  • Stacks materials in storage areas and loads shipments in trailers.
  • Ensures product or equipment being moved is undamaged and handled in a safe manner.
  • Identifies any mechanical problems or damage with the pallet jack and ensures the problems are reported to the supervisor for further inspection and repair.
  • Completes and delivers daily and weekly reports to the floor supervisor.
  • Participates as a member of the team, contributing to team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding major issues and works with the team to resolve issues.
  • Maintains familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems and understands the role in supporting these systems.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
