About The Position

The Live Hanger is responsible for hanging live chickens in moving shackles. The employee must use and maintain personal protective equipment and comply with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. The role involves working in a wet and dusty environment, around heat and raw live-animal odors, and performing physically demanding tasks.

Requirements

• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
• Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shift hours.
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours and lift up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
• Ability to roll and push buggies weighing approximately 1,000 pounds.
• Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hatchery or related poultry industry experience.
• Basic math functions and skills.

Responsibilities

• Pick up chickens by their thighs and place both feet onto moving shackles, ensuring the feet are securely caught.
• Control the hydraulic bar with a leg to maintain a continuous flow of product.
• Comply with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs, and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
