About The Position

This position involves handling live poultry in a safe and respectful manner while adhering to all animal welfare standards. The primary responsibility is to hang chickens on shackles, ensuring their legs are properly secured. This requires grasping birds from a conveyor belt, hanging them by both feet onto a moving shackle line, and positioning them correctly. The role also demands strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), reporting unsafe conditions, and participating in safety programs. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment is crucial, as is contributing to the company's and department's safety initiatives. Other duties as assigned will also be part of this role.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to multitask and work quickly.
• Ability to work with others in a close environment.
• Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in manufacturing/ shipping environment preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Follows all animal welfare standards while handling live poultry in a safe and respectful manner.
• Hang chickens on shackles while abiding by animal welfare policies.
• Handle birds gently and ensure birds' legs are secured within shackles.
• Grasp the chicken from the moving conveyor belt, hang it by both feet onto a moving shackle line, then hang it with the breast out and pull it down into the shackles.
• Adheres to all safety requirements, including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures, and Process Safety Management-related matters.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Participates in Company and department safety program(s).
• All other duties as assigned.
