About The Position

This position involves following all animal welfare standards while handling live poultry in a safe and respectful manner. The primary task is to hang chickens on shackles while abiding by animal welfare policies. This requires handling birds gently and ensuring their legs are secured within shackles. The process includes grasping the chicken from a moving conveyor belt, hanging it by both feet onto a moving shackle line, then hanging it with the breast out and pulling it down into the shackles. The role also requires adherence to all safety requirements, including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures, and Process Safety Management-related matters. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment and participating in Company and department safety programs are also key aspects of this role. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to multitask and work quickly.
• Ability to work with others in a close environment.
• Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
• Must handle the weight of 8 to 10 lbs. repetitively, occasionally lifting, pushing, or pulling 40 to 70 lbs.
• Ability to work in a stationary position, on feet for the entire shift.
• Ability to work with heavy machinery for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to climb steps and to access and egress through the production environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in manufacturing/ shipping environment preferred but not required.
