About The Position

The Production Manager is responsible for supervising the technical aspects of a stream’s production. Duties include making sure equipment is ready for a stream, transporting equipment to/ from the storage facility and event venues, setting up/ breaking down equipment (setting up cameras, computers, microphones/ headsets, sound boards, video switchers, etc.), and supervising/ giving roles to Production Assistants during events. In addition, the Production Manager helps with the overall production by either operating a camera, performing or Graphics/ On-stream Score Operation during events. The Production Manager is also responsible for troubleshooting issues with equipment and stream feeds if they occur to ensure the stream stays online.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Sports Media, or a similar field.
  • Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) plus an additional 2 years of experience can be substituted for the bachelor's degree requirement.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different schools in our coverage area (within New Jersey).
  • Occasional travel outside of the coverage area (such as Eastern Pennsylvania and Southern New York) may be required.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work weekends and weekday evenings during the academic year.
  • Minimum of 2 weeks notice of any events that are added to the schedule.
  • Games on weekdays can start as early as 3 PM and early as 9 AM on weekends. Call times are usually 90 minutes prior to game start.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lift/ carry/ move A/V equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Must not actively work for/ contract with any other media organizations that provide streaming services of interscholastic sports exclusively within New Jersey.
  • Working knowledge of audio and video studio equipment.
  • 3-5 years of experience in setting up/ tearing down/ operating cameras, tripods, sound boards, microphones, and video switchers.
  • 1-2 years of providing leadership or serving in some leadership capacity.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of general rules of different interscholastic sports is a plus.
  • Experience with troubleshooting basic computer issues is a plus.
  • Experience in software such as YouTube Streaming/Studio, Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), vMix, Blackmagic ATEM, TrackWrestling/ FloArena, and Bitfocus Companion.
