About The Position

Dickerson & Bowen is a leading provider of aggregates, asphalt, and asphalt paving services in central and southern Mississippi. The company operates four asphalt plants and two active sand and gravel plants. This role involves driving a truck to transport materials and personnel to specified destinations. The driver must be capable of moving equipment and hauling drill cuttings and/or fluids safely and professionally.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
Class B CDL with Tanker endorsement or Class A CDL required.
1 to 3 yrs. experience
Read and interpret road maps
Practice good safety habits
Work in dusty or dirty surroundings
Follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling
Judge distances and weights accurately
Make decisions based on verifiable standards.
Stoop, bend, and crouch
Use hands, arms, and legs fully
See well (either naturally or with correction)
Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Verifies load against shipping papers.
Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in the area.
Prepares receipts for load picked up.
Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
May maintain truck log according to state and federal regulations.
May maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
May drive truck equipped with a public address system through city streets to broadcast announcements over the system for advertising or publicity purposes.
May load and unload truck.
May inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs.
