About The Position

The Liturgy Coordinator collaborates with clergy, staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers to plan and execute parish liturgies and celebrations. The Coordinator coordinates and supports liturgical ministers in providing leadership for Sunday Masses and special liturgies, fostering the “full, conscious, and active participation” of parishioners. Requirements

  • Practice of the Catholic faith is required. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Liturgy, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a parish liturgist or liturgical coordinator.
  • Strong knowledge of Church liturgical documents, ritual books, and liturgical resources.
  • Proficiency in standard office technology, including computers, printers, copiers, and internet-based systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of liturgical music is a plus.
  • Familiarity with music notation software (e.g., Finale or Sibelius) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the planning and execution of liturgical celebrations, including prayer services, confirmation, baptism, reconciliation, weddings, funerals, and anointing of the sick, in collaboration with clergy and parish leadership.
  • Supports the integrity of the liturgical year in coordination with Music Ministry and clergy.
  • Works with Volunteer Coordinators and Liturgical Committee leaders to recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for liturgical ministries, sacramental celebrations, and pastoral care ministries.
  • Assists with the preparation and organization of liturgical materials for Mass and other celebrations (e.g., binders, worship aids, and related resources) to support clergy and liturgical ministers.
  • Assists with and coordinates wedding preparation and the liturgical celebration of marriage in collaboration with clergy and parish staff.
  • Assists in coordinating funeral liturgies and supports families in collaboration with clergy and pastoral staff.
  • Coordinates the preparation and execution of the liturgical environment in collaboration with ministry leaders and parish staff.
  • Collaborates with the Pastor and parish staff to integrate music ministry within the overall parish mission and liturgical life.
  • Collaborates with the Liturgy Committee and parish staff (e.g., Faith Formation, Youth Ministry, OCIA) to coordinate needs and appropriate music for sacramental celebrations and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Stays current with developments in liturgy and music and connects music ministers with training and formation opportunities.
  • Fosters unity among parish musicians and promotes collaboration with clergy and other liturgical ministers.
