About The Position

The Litigation Paralegal works closely with attorneys on a full spectrum of clients within the general litigation and ERISA practice groups. Some of the key anticipated responsibilities are listed below. Requesting experience in most of the areas shown below. It doesn't need to be all but also needs the right attitude to dig in and become experienced in these areas if they aren't familiar. The building and construction industry exemption. Transactions to evade or avoid withdrawal liability. Successor, alter ego, and single-employer liability. Partial withdrawals (70% declines, bargaining outs, facility takeouts). Calculation of withdrawal liability. Controlled group liability. Interplay between ERISA and Bankruptcy Code. Enforcement of "pay now, dispute later" rule. Laches. Recover delinquent contributions from active employers. Please note that we champion the development of all roles. Requirements

  • High school or equivalent.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working as a Paralegal in a related area of law.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to create, edit, and format complex documents and spreadsheets.
  • Strong proficiency in Docusign and Adobe.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Notary.
  • Experience with an electronic document management system like iManage.
  • Experience with a billing and timekeeping software like Aderant.
  • Experience with Relativity, CaseMap, TrialMap, or Trial Director.
  • Experience with billable hours expectation.
  • Federal court experience.
  • Experience with clients in trades like Boilermaker, Ironworkers, and Steelworkers.
  • Experience supporting practices that deal with withdrawal liability, delinquent benefit contributions, fiduciary claims, asset and stock sales, employment Law, ERISA matters.
