About The Position

Larkin Hoffman is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Paralegal to join our Real Estate Litigation practice group. This position will work closely with our Real Estate Litigation team to assist with all aspects of case preparation and file management from commencement through settlement or trial. Other duties include managing electronically stored information (ESI), assisting with document production via Relativity, and working with our eDiscovery vendor (Cimplifi). Requirements

  • Paralegal certification OR degree with 3+ years of litigation law firm experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal certification OR degree with 5+ years of litigation law firm experience.
  • Some combination of prior experience and/or working knowledge of document production and Relativity.
  • Prior experience with real estate law including home owner disputes, land use, construction, eminent domain, or breach of contract.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination of all aspects of discovery including collecting documents from clients, organizing & preparing document collections for upload to NetDocs or document management platform (i.e., Relativity), reviewing and marking documents for responsiveness, preparing discovery pleadings, and coordinating imaging of documents in Relativity or other database.
  • Assist in case planning and development. Gather and investigate facts and law applicable to case to prepare case accordingly. Perform legal research.
  • Analyze, summarize, and draft legal documents including pleadings, court filings, discovery, and correspondence.
  • File or oversee the filing and service of pleadings with federal or state courts, mediation proceedings, or administrative hearing offices.
  • Assist in deposition, trial, or hearing preparation by preparing exhibit and witness lists, exhibits, witness examinations and files, trial binders, and jury instructions. Interview witnesses. Assist with exhibit presentation during trial or hearing.
  • Assist with the identification of electronically stored information (ESI) custodians and coordinate with IT and vendors to collect and secure electronic data.
  • Manage electronically stored information (ESI) and document databases (Relativity), perform quality control, and assist legal teams with document review.
  • Act as the liaison with eDiscovery vendors for collection, processing and hosting data.
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure compliance with civil discovery procedures and data privacy regulations and requirements.
  • Prepare and produce documents, draft discovery pleadings and subpoenas, and manage and prepare data for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial.
  • Provide support in preparing for and attending trial, identify and resource equipment needed at trial, and manage the electronic presentation of exhibits.
